1. Simple vertical structure allows the user to read the information in a very traditional manner. The aesthetic is clean and very organized, while the color palate directly related to the subject matter. The subscriber of this layout takes more time to preview the articles before further reading.

2. Again, I felt the vertical structure was important and particularly so in this sketch. This layout appeals more to the young professional on the go and allows more stories to exist with the use of less space (utilization of external links). Their busy lifestyle perhaps may be difficult to balance with keeping up the news on a daily basis. quick headlines allow for faster intake, and sort of a broader view.

3. My final sketch is a hybrid between the first and second. It utilizes expandable/collapsable sections when headlines are clicked upon. This is benefitial because it allows the user to quickly and scan the "closed" articles, and if they wish to view more, it opens automatically on the same page. This in turn provides a very quick read, and as we all know the internet is much more digestible in small, scan-able pieces; which, is very important to my audience.
