• Is the object rendered in a positive or negative tone? Describe more specifically (e.g. comedic vs playful)
+ I feel like the image is being rendered positive manner but really in a rather mysterious way. The shadows it casts gain a grainy gradient to them and really push the image to new levels.
• How did the aesthetic choices (such as cropping, lighting, orientation, color, media, level of abstraction, style, etc) guide your understanding?
+ its a pretty basic image of a typewritter, there isn't a particularly interesting crop. However the lighting is particularly nice, like i said before it really makes the object have a personality and gives it a setting.
•Based on the reading, what categories of transmission were used to send this message?
I would say representational through photography and the high contrast of the image. and in this case Mechanical because of viewing on the screen.
•Also based on the reading, (how) did noise affect your interpretation of the image?
Since the object itself is out of its time period due to the advancements in computers, it bleeds into a sort of timelessness. Of course my understanding of what a typewriter is, is specific to me. A person 5 years younger than me may not know what a typewriter is. But that doesn't prevent me from reading the image.
