

Upon completing this process, I looked towards using recognizable women in history, particularly art history such as the venus de milo, eugene delacroix's "Liberty Leading the People", and works by alphonse mucha. Sketches utilize synecdoche with these figures standing in for the idea of strength, nationalism, and women's place in democracy.



Other concurrent sketches were of creating bold messages through quilting, embroidery, and knitting. For centuries, women have shaped culture using these craft skills to make functional and art related objects. This type of object making is no longer just restricted to the older quilting circles. It has become visible in pop culture through stitch and bitch, etsy.com and knitta.
